My family used to always buy water from the market. Sometimes we drank directly from rainwater we collected in jars. I never taught my children about clean water because I didn’t know about it either. So my children often had diarrhea, and we had to spend about $30 to $50 per month on medication.
I attended a meeting with Samaritan’s Purse and my village leader about the water filters. I was interested, so I didn’t hesitate to register for one. One week later, it was delivered, and a Samaritan’s Purse staff member came to my home to install it for us. He taught us how to use it and how to clean it.
Since we’ve been using the filter, my family is happy because we don’t have to drink water directly from the rainwater jars. We don’t have to worry about cleaning or boiling water. Our health is much better than last year, and we’ve saved about $50 each month. That money can now be put toward our rice field and garden. Thank you Samaritan’s Purse for helping our community’s health.
