Every day I wake up early in the morning, collect water from the well, and sell water to the villagers. I also cut wood for people who need it and look for other work to do. If I can’t find anything to do, I don’t have any work for the day.
Before Samaritan’s Purse came, my family faced some problems. My children got sick with dengue and were hospitalized for five days. We asked our neighbors to stay with our children while they were in hospital because I had to work to pay the bills. It had not been too long since we had moved out of my parents’ house, and things had not been going well.
One morning, we heard the village authority announce that Samaritan’s Purse was going to hold a hygiene training. My wife and I decided to join the training to gain more knowledge and information about personal hygiene.
Since we attended hygiene training, we started practicing good hand-washing techniques at home. We used to not wash our hands properly.
Before Samaritan’s Purse came and gave hygiene training, we used to defecate in the field. Now we own a nice latrine provided by Samaritan’s Purse. We are proud. Our health has been improving, and my children have had less diarrhea. I now teach my children how to use a latrine properly. I appreciate what Samaritan’s Purse did for our family, teaching us hygiene practices and giving us a latrine. I used to dream of owning a latrine, but we couldn’t afford one on my meager income.
I want my children to grow up healthy and educated because I don`t want them to struggle. Thank you, Samaritan’s Purse.
