Samaritan’s Purse provides food that a struggling mother can’t afford for her children

Meresi Ausi is a widow with four children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A Widow in Need

I’m a widow. Before my husband was killed, my family had a quiet life. But one night, the militia kidnapped him. When they arrived at the river, he was dragged into the water, and we never recovered his body. That incident completely changed my life. With the continual war, my four children and I became vulnerable and unstable.

Since 2014, my family has benefited from assistance provided by Samaritan’s Purse. First, we received tarps. Then, by the grace of God, we were selected to participate in a special fair, a market to where we can buy food we need with vouchers provided by Samaritan’s Purse.

Since Samaritan’s Purse has been in our village, several families have been blessed. We have clothes for our children and ourselves. Humbly, I would like to thank Samaritan’s Purse, and I pray that God opens up the possibility for other activities in our community.
